Our ministry in Peru began in Lima in 2005. In 2006 God called us to the “Pearl of the Andes” to a town called Tarma. We first established Lutheran Social Services of Tarma in response to significant basic needs. As a result of our caring outreach, two worshiping communities began to gather with a desire to know the Jesus that sent missionaries from 3000 miles away to serve in their community. In 2011 God opened the door and provided us with a mission pastor, Pastor Jose Araujo, to serve and provide Word and Sacrament.
In 2014 we were blessed to purchase property so we now have two Mission Congregations in Tarma and Huancal Peru. These mission churches serve as a place for spiritual growth and witness to the faith. Over the years hundreds of members and friends have been part of the mission to provide good news of God’s love through Word and deed.
It has been a blessing to watch how God has developed this mission. The worshiping communities continue to grow and develop in service and faith and we continue to serve through the Life Changer Ministry (Sponsor a student), Kingdom Kids (after school program), Assistance to the Benefenencia (Orphanage for children and seniors) and general care in the community.
