Shepherd of the Woods has been in mission in Peru since 2005. We’ve been blessed to make numerous trips over the years to share God’s love and hope and the Good News of Jesus Christ through word and deed. God has been at work through us and countless lives have been touched. We often say that we are blessed to be a blessing, and the mission work we do in Peru is no exception! God’s work is being done 3000 miles away through you.

Life Changer Ministry
In Tarma there are many families who have very little resources for necessities like food and shelter. These families cannot afford to purchase school uniforms or the supplies which are required to attend school. Over the years, with your support, we have been “life changers” by providing uniforms and school supplies for more than 500 children who would have not been able to attend school otherwise.
As the children are returning to school (their school year runs March to December) we encourage you to be a “life changer”. Pastor Araujo has worked to evaluate and identify students in greatest need of a uniform and school supplies. With a donation of $125 you will provide a child with a uniform, shoes, a backpack and school supplies for the entire school year! If you are not in a position to provide an entire uniform, any amount is greatly appreciated and will be combined with other gifts to support as many children as possible. Mission Trip 2026
Mark your calendars as we prepare for our summer mission trip to Peru from June 1st-12th, 2026.
If you would like more information or you would like to receive updates on the trip, please reply to this email to let us know of your interest. We will hold informational meetings this coming Sunday, March 15 at 9:45am and at 11:45am in the sanctuary.
This year’s trip will include a variety of projects at the church property, a visit to our friends in the village of Huancal and other opportunities to share the love of God in Christ with our Peruvian friends. Following our time in Tarma, we will also offer an optional trip to visit Machu Pichu, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The approximate cost of the mission trip is $750 which covers your transportation from Lima to Tarma, daily transportation, lodging and most meals. Flight arrangements from Jacksonville to Lima vary depending on when you book your flights but average around $800 currently. The optional trip to Machu Pichu ($950) includes airfare, train fare, as bus transport, lodging, entrance & guide fees and some meals.
The mission trip is 8 days. The optional side trip adds another 4 days.
Yard Sale – April 18, 2026
Next month, we will have our annual yard sale on Saturday, April 18th from 7am to 1pm. Your donations and your purchases support the ongoing mission work being done in Peru. Offering your time and energy during the week of April 13, preparing for and hosting the yard sale, has a direct impact on the mission. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
If you have clothing, furniture, working appliances & electronics, household items, baby items, toys, holiday decor, sporting goods, etc. to donate, we are now able to receive your items. Please place items in boxes with lids as best you can to allow for safe stacking in the storage bins.
They are marked for clothing (Bin One), furniture (Bin Two) and all other items (Bins Three – Five). The more we can safely stack items to the ceiling, the more donations we are able to receive. We greatly appreciate your support and care with this. Items can be dropped off anytime the office is open.
